On the slopes of the Citlaltépetl stands this city, traditionally known as Sesma Chalchicomula. A thousand legends are told when Quetzalcóatl lived in these lands and played to slide down the hill of the Slider. During the colony, the small town grew into a city. From that time the old Aqueduct and the monumental and beautifully decorated Church of Jesus of the three Falls remain. Some of the hiking and climbing routes to the Pico de Orizaba depart from Ciudad Serdán.
