Atlixco and Matamoros Valley

This small town, 56 km from Puebla, is a destination worth visiting for two reasons. The first, its magnificent ex-Renaissance convent of San Martín, of exquisite architecture, an ancient altarpiece and an interesting site museum where a room is dedicated to the second great reason to visit Huaquechula: the Day of the Dead.

From the House of Culture, tours of the houses with mourners are organized to admire the extraordinary three-story altars that represent life on earth and the ascent of the deceased to the heavens.

In the base, the visitor will be able to observe several carved stones placed in different directions - also next to the door of Forgiveness, the work of the native who inhabited these lands before the colony.
