TOURISM MUST BECOME A DEVELOPMENT FACTOR FOR PUEBLA: BRISEÑO SUÁREZ

CITY OF PUEBLA, Pue.- When appearing before the deputies and members of the Tourism Commission of the State Congress, Secretary Fabiana Briseño Suárez, said that tourism must become a development factor for Puebla through the boost to the economy, as well as the Creation of more and better jobs.

“ Work has been carried out in collaboration with the three government orders, with private initiative and civil society, in order to establish promotion and investment strategies that allow the state to consolidate this industry”, he said.

In this regard, the official reported that during this administration the new destination brand “Puebla el Patrimonio de México” was launched, which reflects the vocation of the entity expressed in the eight appointments with which the entity has.

This brand was listed in the International Tourism Fair “FITUR 2020”, as the best in the category “ Sustainable Destination” to boost tourism activity around the heritage attractions.

In this event, Grupo Excelencias recognized the poblana entity for the actions in the preservation of our traditional recipes, increasing and preserving the oral and written tradition that each poblana family keeps.

Similarly, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) granted Puebla and Spain the distinction of “ Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” for the traditional process of making Talavera.

Briseño Suárez said that within the strategy of strengthening tourism promotion and commercialization, a collaboration agreement was signed with the state of Morelos, which maximizes resources to publicize the tourist attractions of the entity.

“ This type of agreement seeks to boost regional tourism, taking advantage of the proximity and connectivity”, he said.

The professionalization of the tourism sector is essential to guarantee the quality of the services that tourists receive, so, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism of the Federal Government, 45 new companies were registered with the National Tourism Registry and 15 certificates were renewed .

“This registry gives certainty to tourists that the company with which they are hiring the service is legitimately established” added.

The Secretary of Tourism emphasized the need to increase the events that take place in the entity, taking advantage of the infrastructure in the conventions and exhibitions, as well as the offer of hotels and restaurants.

“ That is why we have held meetings with the leaders of this tourism segment to professionalize service providers, attract massive and specialized events, as well as generate promotion and marketing strategies specific to this segment”, he said.

In the period that is reported, 367 events were held in the poblana entity, with an influx of more than 946 thousand participants.

The head of the agency said that during the administration of Governor Miguel Barbosa Huerta, from August 1 to December 31, the entity received 6 million 500 thousand visitors, which represented a 6.6 percent increase over 2018, and An economic spill of 6,614 million pesos was generated, 8.3 percent more than the same period of the previous year.
