Previously known as the Calvary Parish, the Parish of San Juan Bautista was founded in 1571 by Augustinian monks; It houses catacombs of hundreds of inhabitants who lived between the 16th and 17th centuries.

The Parish is located on Iturbide Street and has a Gothic style that resembles that of the famous Parisian Notre Dame Cathedral. The building, which dominates the Xicotepec landscape with its impressive towers, is dedicated to the patron saint of the city & #8220; San Juan Bautista & #8221 ;, which is celebrated every June 24; day that is visited by many devoted people.
